Overview

BOTOX Cosmetic is the most popular cosmetic procedure in the country and one of the most requested services at Dr. James Gordon’s plastic surgery offices in Westchester County and Manhattan. Quick, safe and effective, BOTOX reduces or eliminates facial lines and wrinkles. Through a series of tiny injections, BOTOX creates a rejuvenated look by smoothing crow's feet beneath the eyes, frown lines between the eyebrows, horizontal lines across the forehead, worry lines around the mouth, and lines on the neck. Dr. James R. Gordon is one of 3% of doctors qualified as an ExpertInjector™ by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS). Dr. Gordon is frequently featured in the media for his expertise in refined injection techniques that lift and rejuvenate the aging face.

About The Procedure

After determining a treatment plan during the initial consultation, Dr. Gordon is often able to perform BOTOX injections right away in his minor procedures room. The treatment only takes about 5 minutes and patients will be able to leave the office and resume their normal activities immediately, but it is advised that strenuous activity be avoided. Since very thin needles are used, most patients will only feel minor pain and discomfort. No anesthesia or numbing cream is required.

During/After The Procedure

Immediately following the BOTOX treatment, some patients may experience temporary mild bruising, but the treated wrinkles begin to fade within 72 hours, with continued improvement over the next 5 days. The effects of BOTOX Cosmetic typically last up to 4 – 6 months, although many have reported results lasting up to a full year. After several sessions of BOTOX treatments, the results may begin to last longer.

Expected Cost

A BOTOX treatment session may cost between $500 and $1,000, depending on the amount of BOTOX used. During the initial consultation, Dr. Gordon will be able to better estimate a patient’s cost after determining their goals and examining the areas needing treatment.

BOTOX FAQs

Recovery Tips?

Patients should expect to have redness and swelling on their face after the treatment, but this should subside in 1 – 3 days. Dr. Gordon advises his patients to avoid laying down or inverting the body for the first few hours after the treatment. Also, patients should avoid touching or massaging the injections sites as this can cause the treatment to spread to other areas. Patients are encouraged to call Dr. Gordon’s office with any questions or concerns.

Safety Concerns?

BOTOX is a safe form of botulinum toxin (type A) that is approved by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) for cosmetic use. As an experienced Expert Injector, Dr. Gordon is able to properly administer BOTOX treatment. Patients should be careful to tell Dr. Gordon about their medical history, including the use of NSAIDs (aspirin), anticoagulants, or blood thinners.

Other Uses?

In addition to smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles, BOTOX may be useful for treating migraine headaches, excessive sweating, chronic back and jaw pain, and muscle spasms.
